Obamacare, it was assured, would bring a decrease in ER visits, because more people would be able to visit regular physicians (primary care doctors) instead. In reality, since January, 2014, when Obamacare fully kicked in, 3 out of 4 ER doctors report a clear rise in patient attendances, a recent American College of Emergency Physicians survey has found. Additionally, according to 7 out of 10, a “significant” increase in current numbers could now not be dealt with by their departments.
Remember “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”? The increased numbers of those with health care has now highlighted the shortage of primary care doctors. As a result, many people are simply bypassing that option and heading straight for the Emergency Room.
